Burlington Arms

The Burlington Arms was situated on Market Street. TImothy Taylors closed the pub in 2018 following the retirement of the longstanding licensee. Due to it's proximity to Keighley Market it used to open early in the morning and close mid-evening, a tradition it maintained, albeit modified, to the end. It also maintained to the end (along with The Vine) electric suction pump dispense. These were originally the tubular diaphragm pumps. Many pubs converted to this system in the 1960's which, as it was suction, conformed to the CAMRA definition of Real Ale dispense. However, they were not as cosmetic as hand-pumps and there was confusion as to whether they were actually pressure taps,
hence virtually all the others reverted to hand pumps from the 70's onwards. This was an unspoilt gem of a pub. It was like a time-capsule, even up to it's closure, stepping through the door you were immediately transported back to the 1970's.
