The Boot & Shoe was situated on Back
Lane. This pub first opened in 1822 in a farm, then moved to this building.
The first publican was James Lapish. It closed c1890 to became a house.
1891 census home of Mrs Turner and son Walter Lewis Turner. He murdered
Barbara Whitham Waterhouse in Leeds a 6-year-old girl from Horsforth, he
hung she was sentenced for perjury. It was demolished in 1970's. |
