The Wood Cottage Hotel was situated on Greenfield Road. Also known as the Duke of Edinburgh and the Harden Moss Inn, it became the Wood Cottage Hotel in the 1870s and closed as a pub in 1916. The building dates from the 18th century and has been a youth hostel, tea rooms and boarding kennels.
