Clarendon Hotel

The Clarendon Hotel was situated on Dale Street. Nicknamed 'the Gluepot' it was a men only pub and the only alehouse in Middlesbrough, never having had a spirit licence only beer and wine (not the French stuff - it was port for the old men). My late father was manager in the late 1960's - the building was demolished as part of the clearance for the Hill Street shopping centre approx 1980.
