built in 1867 and demolished in 1970. |

My Grandparents and later Uncle David were
tenants of the Royal Victoria, Archibald, Annie and David Smith. As a small
child I also lived with my Mother at the pub, while my father was serving
with the Royal Air Force from 1939-1947. I remember the wonderful clientele,
they had hearts of gold and certainly celebrated D day. There was a real
community feeling one big family. I have lived in Australia for the last 48
years, so I'm not sure when the Royal Victoria was demolished. |
