The Shipmate was situated on Union Street. This pub was later known as The Junction.

Following the withdrawal of the licence in 2020 because of drug use, sale of fireworks, and a cannabis farm in The Junction, planning approval has now been given to demolish the pub for building of luxury student flats and a food court.
