Crown Inn

Our house is the Old Police House but it was built, probably
as a pub, The Crown Inn around 1830.The first Landlord was John Coates, then
Richard Burton, then Joseph Dibble. By 1890 the house ceased to be a pub
and was owned by a Tea Dealer . The North Riding Constabulary bought it in
1912 and it reverted to private use in the 1960s. There was evidence of a
sign board on the gable end. |
