The Elephant & Castle was situated on Cross Street. This pub was demolished to make way for road improvements.
My great grandparents, Watson & Eliza Harland were the publicans here from the 1880s to at least 1911. Although Watson died in 1898 aged 65, Eliza and her son George and daughter Emily kept running the pub for the next 20 years.
