The Old Star was situated at 14-20 High Street. Originally a mid 17th century farmhouse being renovated in 1710 by builder William Currer as noted on the dated and initialled central door lintel.  Closed in 1880, it reverting back to a private dwelling, later being divided into 4 cottages. A new  Old Star pub was opened on the new village A629 bypass road.
