I may be biased but my memories of the New Inn were very
happy as my daughter & son in law took it over in approx 2005 when it was in
a run down condition. Both Joy and Alan Woods threw all their energy into
it and made it a thriving pub. They spent money on it by improving the car
parking area, cleared the front of the pub and put in a beer garden in that
area. With Joy's efforts they won the best flower arrangements at the front
of the pub. Alan also had the two Quoits pitches installed on the front lawn
that was sponsored by Harland Builders (local to the New Inn). Also when
Gordo Brown decided to stop people of having the pleasure of having a smoke
Alan had to install a smoking area at the back. Phil (lives in the village
but don't know his surname) built a smoking area. Talking of Phil, his
daughter Becky worked for Alan and was a credit to them. She worked daytime
cleaning and was also a first class front of the house. Unfortunately the
brewery found it impossible to tell pub owners that they had been taken over
and lets put up the rent and keep quiet about it. They managed to make it
impossible to work under them. P.S my wife made a very good drawing of the
New Inn which my daughter kept for themselves. |
