The City Arms was situated at 37 Walmgate. This pub was present by 1893 when the publican was Tom Cook. It is now used as a Chinese restaurant.

Sharon Cannings 1940s My father, who was a mid upper gunner in Lancasters during WWII remembers a Geoff Manner, navigator, lived in this pub with his parents during the war. He would love to know what happened to the family, as Geoff was killed when serving on a squadron of Mosquitos later in the war
