My great uncle Charlie and his wife Pat
ran this pub in the seventies. I remember it had a big garden out the back
because they had a Great Dane and an Airedale terrier that used to chase us
when we visited as kids. One of the regulars must have worked at Rowntrees
because we never saw so many Smarties and chocolate misshapes. In 1977 I
went to work there for a few months and really enjoyed myself even though
the place was a dive. My uncle Charlie and Pat were knocking on a bit so I
assume that the pub was sold shortly after they retired and it was turned
into housing,
Not sure but it looks to me like the garden wall was retained when they
built the houses that are there now. |
