   1882 certificate for this French company which built the Corinthian Canal between 1882 and 1893, connecting the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea.

The certificate has  a large illustration of an old map showing Austria-Hungary, Dalmatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Greece as part of the Turkish Empire. It shows the old sea routes leading south of Greece and the much shorter new sea routes through the Canal. It also depicts a cross-section of the canal, showing heights of the hills cut through, up to 78 metres, and the canal length of c. 6km. It also shows a small vignette of the Flying Pegasus and a small vignette of goddess Athena.

Certificate size is 21 cm high x 30 cm wide (9" x 12").
