On 16 July 1991, Alan Brooks, the landlord of
what was still known as The Clydesdale at the time was stabbed to death in
the car park, believed to be by members of a gang that he had previously
confronted for dealing drugs in his other pub, The Gunmakers' Arms.
Despite several witnesses to the attack, none were willing to speak and his
murderers have never been caught.
Mr Brooks was a retired boxer and the father of publican, boxer and
broadcaster, Adam Brooks, who was 11 years old at the time. |
