Castle Tavern

Site of The Castle Tavern

The Castle Tavern was situated on the north side of Long Street in 1426 during the reign of King Henry VI. The vestiges of the original pub remain in the house now called “Tudor Rose”. It was substantially rebuilt as The Castle Inn in 1800, during the reign of King George III, on the opposite side of the street.
