The Chadwell Arms was situated at 1149 High Street. Following closure in the 2000s this pub was used as The Rendezvous Bar & Grill, then The Neuvo Bar & Grill which in turn closed in 2014. The building was demolished in 2016.
This pub had a Great music venue called The Birds Nest in the early 1970s. Good selection of bands and a great DJ playing Prog Rock

I used to work here as a barman with my mate Roy during its days as The Birds Nest. Some great bands; lively scene and some great regulars (one or two “dodgy” ones I remember). We went on to work at “The Growling Budgie” in Ilford - more of a night club - again with live music. In both places our clothes reeked of smoke and beer when we eventually got home. Those were the days
