The landlord's name in the early 1960s was Keena, I'm not
sure about the spelling. He moved to the George at Sunnyhurst, Darwen.
I hung around a bit with his son, Tommy, and remember as a little kid, after
they left, climbing over the back yard wall and nicking soda syphons, then
taking them round the front and selling them back to the landlord. |

My dad moved from Manchester in 1954 and took the Claremont Hotel along the
road from the Imperial. I remember
several journeys between the two as dad and the licensee at the Imperial had
a "lease/ lend2 arrangement". Crates of Thwaites bottled beers hefted up
the road when needed. |

My Dad, John Keena, was the landlord at
The Claremont Hotel in Blackburn during the 1960s. The pub had a strong
Irish clientele including the footballers Andy McEvoy and Mick McGrath who
played for Blackburn Rovers during the sixties.Very happy days. |
