The Plough was situated on Plough Hill. |

I was going through my history and my
time as a camp-kid at RAF Coningsby. In the early fifties when I was five I
was in Nocton Hall RAF hospital to have my tonsils removed.
Then today going through the sites and seeing what has become of the area of
the hospital I noticed the Potterhanworth Booths Road. So I followed it on
Google Maps and this led me to another connection. That was the Plough Inn,
now closed down. On a trip back to Lincolnshire fishing in 1967. I was in
Bardney a popular spot for Sheffielders at the time. I was with a friend
having a pint in the Nags Head at lunch time and got talking to some local
girls. One of the girls was Janet Haig whose parents were the owners of the
Plough Inn at Potterhanworth. I always wondered over the years what became
of Janet as she was wearing one of those large charity badges that were
popular then, "I'm a shelter Helper". Funny what sticks in your mind! |
