The Victoria Hotel was situated on Albert Street.  The pub was constantly mentioned as The Cock until 1853. Then it was known as The White Bear with Tom White as landlord. He was also landlord of the Old White Bear, further down the street. It was renamed The Victoria in 1897 and remained that until 2016 when it became an Indian restaurant. It had been rebuilt and enlarged in 1925.
