Rose & Crown

The Rose & Crown was situated on Hurtis Hill.
This pub was converted to cottages in the 1890s, when a new pub of the
same
name was built about 200 yards down the road. Present by 1861, it was
sometime owned by Ballards Brewery of Lewes. My grandmother moved into one
of the cottages in 1902 and it has been occupied by our family ever since. |
