|
|
The Rose & Crown was situated on Hurtis Hill.
This pub opened in the 1890s when an older pub of the
same name, 200 yards down the road,
closed. It was sometime owned by Page & Overton Brewery and closed c1990 to
be converted into flats. |

The landlord was Ken Sharp with his
wife Audrey - we had an informal 'gang' who were always there at the
weekends, when people came from miles around to enjoy the fabulous
atmosphere - Phill Hills and Ron Hurrel played guitars and provided the
music- I was an immature youth, swept up in the 'summers of love with my
beautiful girlfriend-It was an incredible, magical time for me-the Rose
and Crown was a sad loss. |
