The New Inn was situated at 29 Longford
Road. |
|
A New Inn was on the site at 29 Longford Road
from 1791 until 1973. In its last incarnation it was a substantial red brick
building boasting several bars and a music/ballroom and catering kitchen.
The New Inn became The Fiesta in 1974, then Carneys in 1984, before being
demolished and replaced by houses in 1984.
My uncle Bob and his wife were the landlords from 1974 to 1983. Bob's son
Fred went on to become the key player behind Churchill Inns.
My Dad was the landlord at
The New Inn, Brigstock
during a similar period. |
